Topic: Percussion Demo

    Percussion Demo

This is a short piece consisting of percussion only.

Please give it a listen and let me know what you think.

I would have posted this hours ago, but I could not settle on a title.

Wonderful. I like the exotic feel. The "distance" of the reverb leaves an authentic or almost primitive impression.

I have to admit that I didn't care for the slide whistle, since it's generally used as a comical device. It broke the Bali-type mood that I felt from the open scales of the tuned percussion.

I can't wait to hear what you can do by combining this type of percussion and your previous efforts on solo strings!

    Thanks Leandro.

    Thanks Jon.

Yeah, those slide whistles sound a bit funny. I wanted to use a siren instead. That probably would be worse!

There's a piece by Darius Milhaud (I think it is titled "L'homme and son desir"). It is for a chamber orchestra with a large percussion section. The percussion section cuts a raucous groove from time to time. I think I had this piece in mind.

I'd like to replace the xylophone with a marimba.

    Thanks for listening and commenting.
