99 Million as of today. Should reach an unprecedented 100 mil this weekend. Not bad for a modest little documentary about the horrors of war, love of country, and abuse of power in the White House.

It's been out for about a month or so? The Repugs must be frothing at the mouth.

    Just think of the profits!

Did you ever bother to look up Carlyle Group?

M Moore is making millions in profit off of Saudi/Binladen money. The Carlyle groups defense industry investment represents 4% of their total investment portfolio. Gulp!

Guess what one of their other 96% holdings is? A nice chunk of investment in Lowe's Cinema (theaters). The same one's M Moore is making millions off of right now. M Moore has made more money off of this "one" movie..that Bush has made his entire career.

The same Saudi, foreign, Binladen money that Moore claims corrupted the president...by being attached to as a 3rd party.

So, how would you suggest MMoore show his work?

I guess he could have made it a multi-part free download on his website. But then the message would not have hit so many people.

how do you criticise America without taking advantage of its structures, i mean Chomsky works at MIT, he is in a priveleged position etc Moore again puts out this film and he too is in a priveleged position, it does show that America as an empire is definetly a better system than the old Soviet Union, but how does one become critical of a system but at the same time needs the system that he is critical off

    It's simple!

Just choose the people you hate... to critisize for doing the same thing.
It's like...stealing..is not really a crime..unless you steal something you think makes it criminal.

I tend to differ. It meets all of the definitions of a documentary (a thesis as well as historical and original, reality-based footage that support the thesis), and it happens to have a strong point of view. Even the landmark Nanook of the North had a point of view. It just wasn't as controversial.

This film is so popular because it shows the side that people have been denied in the media. It's that simple. You could watch O'Reilly and hear 10 times the distortion on any given night. That's OK, if you're a right wing nutjob. He's "fair and balanced." But "that Michael Moore, he's so dishonest!" What's the number one movie on Amazon this week? Star Wars? no. Last Samurai? no. Outfoxed? That's right!

How bout this? No dics in socks. Why don't the dics just admit it? "We're dics and we don't care that we're dics and we're not going to hide in socks anymore."

You sure you quoted the right post Nick? I said nothing about the film being popular. Kudo's to M Moore for a succesful movie and his successful marketing/publicity campaign.

No dics in socks. Hmmm...It does have a ring to it. But, I'm not sure that's sending the right message for the prevention STDs. Wouldn't want to confuse anybody.
