    Gsif 2

    Hi,

    Gigastudio 2.5 is still the best sampler for Piano. The GS3 solo edition seems to be good.

    But...

    Echo -> GSIF 2
    RME -> GSIF 2

    And ESI ? Motu ? M-audio ? Terratec ? E-MU ? Edirol ?AArdwark ?

    I've a Waveterminal 192 X, and ESI doesn't know if they will make GSIF drivers.

    I don't want to buy another audiocard to buy Gigastudio 3 when this software will be out (at 9 august 2004 -according to me -)

    Regards,

    Olivier

    You only need GSIF-2 for audio input and Kernel-level MIDI. GSIF-1 will work for every feature other than those two. If your MIDI-latency has been good with Giga 2.0, it will be just fine with Giga 3.

    I emailed Terratec a while ago, who told me they would "probably" develop GSIF2 drivers.
    Now am I wrong or do you need GSIF2 for gigapulse and gigapiano 2?

    I have yet to see driver updates for

    M-Audio, Echo, Terratec and the Tascam PCI-822.

    You only need the GSIF2 (audio input part) if you want to run external audio into GigaPulse. You don't need it to run your samples through GigaPulse, or for the new GigaPiano - these only require the audio output part, which is defined by the original GSIF spec.

    The other part of GSIF 2 is the MIDI input part. This gives no new features, but is intended to reduce MIDI input latency.

    Does anyone know what the least expensive Gsif 2 card currently is?
