Roll Out the Barrel -It's GPO Polka Time!

Let's have a barrel of fun

In the lavish style of Liberace, David Lomascola has provided this short demo:
    http://www.garritan.com/mp3/dl-PolkaOrch.WMA
    (sorry only in WMA format)

The piano is a real piano but everything else is GPO.

Did you know Beer Barrel Polka was #1 on the pop charts in 1939? It's time for a revival!

If anyone wants to take a try there's a polka band score on page two of this pdf link: http://www.cherry-classics.com/sampl...lka-sample.pdf

Thanks David for sending this in and welcome to the GPO community!

Gary, do you have those accordion samples ready yet? it's not a real polka without an accordion!

Man that's excellent though. I hate the piano isn't GPO's but everything else sounds so real. Great job David.

I don't know if I'm cracking up....but I noticed the eyes moving on your paper bag! I swear it!! Seriously that's really clever.... I had a good chuckle!

Have you ever thought of using a side profile, though....A full on frontal isn't always the most flattering.....no offence.

Look at the date....That's what started WW2!!....or perhaps it was Hitler invading Poland.....I can't really remember. We call it 'Roll out the Barrel' here and I think it was one of the earliest Wartime hits.

Seriously, I wouldn't have called this Polka style...... but it's done in an enjoyable bar room style. I imagine it's quite hard to recapture the orchestration of the period.

Sounds like you've had too much sauce this morning Frank.

    Bring on the accordions Gary!!

Franz Liszt wrote a polka. You don't beleive me?

    http://www.midicenter.com/midi/midi_...t/lismplka.mid

    It's called the Mephisto Polka!

I love the very last note best!

note: this is a very stilted and quantized rendition. To get the real fire, find the album from the 60s called "The Daemonic Liszt", pianist Earl Wild. I heard Wild play The Mephisto Polka in person in Los Angeles, along with the incredible Mephisto Waltz and the impossible Gnomenreigen.
