I guess mainly to control the overall volume of each instrument.
Maybe there's another way to do _that_.
I'm using Sonar, I know you can set the volume knob for each instrument, but I can't control that knob with midi to make slight adjustments within the piece, can I?
I'm not doing much volume variation, just slightly.
I am a newbie, but of course I do most volume dynamics with the mod wheel.
Also, I noticed where someone else posted they would like to "mute out" various passages (temporarily) without doing it with the mod wheel.
If I'm missing something, please let me know.
That makes sense. As long as you don't put panning information in the track, though, you don't have to worry about the defaults being overridden. Keep in mind, if something were to mess up the default panning you just reload the instruments and they'll be in the default locations again.
Is there a list of the default pan settings for the instruments & sections?
For those of us who use the "std. cc#7 / CC#10 volume and pan" option?
I was hoping this info would have been included in the manual, as well as any other technical information, such as default volume settings, velocity layers etc. But since it isn't I've just been compiling a spreadsheet for handy reference. How's that for anal retentive?
