Finale 2005 preview - GPO Supported

Finale 2005 will be shipping soon. One of the cool things they added to this upgrade is support for GPO. Read this:

That plus Engraver Tuplets has made F2005 a must-buy for me.

Dan, Thanks for pointing this out. The Human Playback feature gives a more expressive performance and is optimized for use with GPO. Here is the information from the Finale Page:

    More Human Playback™
man Playback™ plays your music as you would want it to be performed. In Finale 2005 we have added some new impressive features.

Edit and save your preferences for Human Playback.Combine, retain or overwrite existing MIDI data.More custom settings — reverb room types, marching band options, support for Garritan Personal Orchestra, and more.

Now if Sibelius would just get on the bandwagon, life would be a lovely peachfish. It's a good day for you Finale folks.

Ps. 10 extra credit points for the person that knows who coined the term peachfish; and, the medium in which it occured. We'll see if there are any fans here.
    Me fail English? That's unpossible.

I wish I could afford Finale...

$600 is a lot of money.

Same here, Overture all the way for me. It seems to be integrated with GPO moreso than Finale or Sibelius anyway.

And it does 99.45% of what Finale does with less effort!
And what few bugs there are get fixed within a day or two!

Re: Finale 2005 preview - GPO Supported

Finale's wording seems very cautious to me. "Support for GPO" Does that mean that Finale's playback system would recognize GPO as the midi output device replacing Finale's soundfont? If that's the case then GPO Studio wouldn't be needed. I need more information.

More information can be found here. Jari Williamson has posted a review of Finale 2005 explaining a number of things in a bit more depth. To read about Finale's GPO support, you'll need to scroll down to the section about "Human Playback."
