    percussion samples

Just did a full search for other discussions of percussion -- and didn't find much.

I'm looking for sound samples, not loops, for use in contemporary orchestral music. Not so much drums and cymbals, but the other instruments that a score might use from time to time. Any new releases, new opinions? (also just posted my search specifically for the jawbone sound).

    Thanks, guglielmo

    Don't forget Tob's Gtown Percussion.

They sound wonderful and are free.

Can you live with 16 bit? If so, check out Sonic Implants Noise Pollution and Orchestral Percussion (mallets and the gamut). Good quality for very little money.

EDIT: I should add they're available in both Gig and SF2 formats.

    Re: percussion samples

Speaking of Project SAM, they are coming out with a new orchestral percussion library. I believe you will be able to get it in either 16 and 24bit. If thier brass are any example, this one should be AWESOME.

But do any of them have a jawbone? I don't remember where I have it, but I have a vibra-slap somewhere. That's the modern equivalent, but it's a different sound - and it doesn't make me sqeamish.

Thank you for the benefit of your knowledge, all. Not that it has helped me decide yet! If you find that vibra-slap sometime, Nick, please let me know!

    Me too
They're still offering the free samples. They've even added some (stomps, snare, toms, small percussion etc...). On the SAM forum they anounced that there would be a special feature, besides the usual multi-mic positions of course. They sure got me curious
