    Re: theremin samples

Once upon a time there was a free VST theremin, FXpansion Mysterion. Not sure if the link is still anywhere on their confusing website... but I agree with Lee Blaske, emulating it with a (soft)(virtual)analog synth with variable portamento/volume is the way to go, if you don't have the real thing. (I got the cute inexpensive Pocket Theremin with pitch antenna only, which can, contrary to popular opinion, be used to play melodies (practice, practice, practice))
    Cheers Matt

The fxpansion Mysteriser is great if you can track it down. It has a function allowing you to decide how much you overshoot notes by, which takes a lot of the work out of trying to make it sound human.

EM reports that the Voweler AU by Airy Andre kinda sounds like a theremin.
It's free and works with Logic!

Try a French Connection. They're the closest thing. Amazing. They were comissioned by Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead. There's a dealer in LA somewhere.

    Re: theremin samples

I know this is a very old thread, but... I came across a very nice Ondes Martenot sample set from Sonic Couture, which can be played in an interesting manner: directly from a trackpad, so that one can simulate the real-time vibrato of the pitch quite similarly to playing the real thing. It's a little pricey, but really cool! Beautiful interface, too...

how about this? Wavelore have just released "Ether-phone".

It sounds fantastic, really beautiful and expressive, and better than that, the price is anything but expensive!

Actually, I'm going to grab it right now!!!! ;-)

BTW, you can demo it first before you buy
