Topic: Some old Sketches....

Sketches (Update 22-10-2004)

Since most of the tunes I made are scattered over the general discussion pages, I thought it would be a good idea to gather them here.

I'll just quote myself

Anyway, after auditioning the sounds for a couple of days, I did a mockup of Randy Edelmans 'Astoria School Theme' (Kindergarten Cop).
A sweet little tune I really like a lot, perfect for a first try on GPO.

I'm not totally satisfied with the results... any input is really welcome !

It's my first try in writing something for orchestra, so please... be gentle

Steph's Theme (2,1MB)

Enjoy ! (I hope)

Coming up next: something Zimmeresque

Fixed it yesterday and started working on my next piece.

This time, no sweet tunes, but an attempt to produce some Hollywood kinda thing.
Mind you, it's only a rough sketch... hence the name

Sorry to keep flooding the forum with stuff I'm trying, but GPO is so amazing, I can't seem to stop making music.

This is something I did today, far from finished, but it's bedtime and I wanted to let you people listen to this... is it worth to spend more time on this (making it longer etc.)

Anyone who has any comments on the harmony etc.... please do so...

It's a classical kinda tune, a bit Barok i guess...

Sketch 3 (0,8MB)

Thanks for any feedback you can give me..

Boy oh boy oh boy....

Did I screw up

I just listened to the version I posted here.... and it all sounded wrong to me.... went back to cubase and apparantly, I somehow managed to put the 2nd violins and the violas tracks up 6 dB, so they sound way to hard....

I fixed that problem and also altered the ambience settings a bit...

Now it sounds more like it should.....

Here's the link again (it's the same): Sketch 3

To check if you're listening to the right version, check the length, the old one was 45 sec, this one should be 43 sec.

Here's an overview of the instrumentation:

Violins I: Gagli Ens 1-3 & Strad Ens 1-3
Violins II: Guarn Ens 1-3
Violas: Viola Ens 1-3
Cellos: Cello3 Ens 1-3
Basses: Double Bass Pizz Solo

Anyone interested in the Cubase & Midifile ?

Thanks for all your kind words and sorry about the mess

A Date with Freddy

For me, John Carpenter is the master of scary tunes.... just a simple theme, repeating over and over again, adding all kinds of strange things to it along the way.

Although the scariest tunes I remember are Ave Satani (Jerry Goldsmith - The Omen) and the children singing 'Freddy is coming for you' in Nightmare on Elmstreet.

I tried combining the later with the John Carpenter style....

Instruments used:

All the string sections (man I love the new KS versions)
2 Organs
Double Bass Solo

G-Town Stomps and G-Town PianoFX
A female choir (SoV)
Some soundfx I found on the net or created myself

Dim your lights and crank up the volume......

Enjoy (I hope)

While searching the internet for scary sounds, I stumbled across a spooky haunted house kinda tune, unfourtunatly, I listened to it, went on with my search and forgot the url afterwards...

So i decided to slap a similar piece together from memory... it's absolutly not exactly how the original was, but just my interpetation of it.

Not that that's all such a big deal... but I didn't want to take credit for something I didn't really write myself.

Here it is: Haunted Castle (Less then 2 MB, 1 minute)

It only took about 3-4 hours to make... (lot's of copy & paste )

I LOVED the piece you did for your son.
TERRIFIC.....so much in fact I
sent it to a dean of a school of music here
in the USA.

Do us all a favor and keep composing
and using Garritan.
