    CD Auto Insert

I'm a little ashamed to have to ask, but how do I turn off the CD-ROM's auto insert response in WinXP?

    Hi,

Are you talking about the autorun feature? If so, you can simply open up properties on your CD player drive (D or whatever) and choose "take no action."

Or what I did was get the free UI Tweak utility:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

Use this to go to My Computer/AutoPlay/Drives and uncheck the box for any drive letter you don't want to run automatically.

There are multiple ways to do this it seems.

I always used the tip off www.musicxp.net which is:

    25. Disable CDROM Autoplay

    Start > Run > regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > CurrentControlSet > Services > Cdrom. Set autorun to 0.

    Cheers,
    Steve
