Arrow Hosting GPO in an External Host Tutorian by Jonathan Klein

Jonathan Klein, Associate Professor of Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music wrote an excellent pdf tutorial on how he set up GPO in Bidule in order to host GPO outside of a sequencer (in this case Digital Performer).

    http://www.garritan.com/tutorial/GPO_ExternalHost.pdf

"Using GPO as an Instrument Track in Digital Performer is easy to set up, but introduces a number of annoying problems. The biggest drawback occurs when working on multiple sequences (chunks) within one DP file: Duplicate GPO instances are automatically created for each sequence, using up valuable RAM and bogging down the Computer. The following is a way to set up GPO in an external host. This allows the user to implement only the GPO instances that are actually needed."

Using Jonathan's approach will allow 2 different pedaling modes (simualtaneously), multiple outs per instance, less aggravation, and can improve performance.

Thanks Jonathan for preparing this tutorial and benefiting the GPO community.

Thanks Gary...I've used Bidule as a VST host in order to compose with a notation program, GPO and Crystal...it didn't work all that well because of a flakey notation program. Hopefully, if/when Overture goes 'VSTi'-capable, I won't need it.

But Bidule's definitely a cool program.
