If "Bush Knew", why go and be embarrassed?

If Bush "KNEW" there where NO WMD's - then why would he rush into a country (& war) where we would immediately come to NOT FIND ANY?

We went IN (all pre-arranged) with news crews & camera's on every tank, hum-v & troop carrier (nearly all contained direct satellite feeds to our TV's).

Bush didn't want to ask for permission. He wanted to act - and worry about asking forgiveness later.

    I will never forgive him.

But that still doesn't address my question. I'm not talking about permission, but rather, the facts that Bush went in and the specualtion that he "knew", I mean (provided he REALLY knew) wouldn't that just be political suicide?

Again if he KNEW - why rush in?

Bush "knew" other country's had been sellling componets to them to make the WMD's. My bet is He figured they have it on hand, better to act now before we wait til they use it against us.

By the way Saddam used them against his own people this is common knowledge. I for one don't need an open invitation to be attacked at some football game or some major event. Personaly I'm thankful we were able to strike first before they were completed and used on ayone else. I'm more worried about WMD than I am of a nuclear attack, they are much cheaper to make and easier to pass through inspections.
I do not regret the things I've done, but those I was unable to do.

No. The American people. As in: "We control the Iraqi airspace, we have them under sanctions, and weapons inspectors are in place. Yet, Saddam tried to kill my daddy, they have lots of oil reserves, they're using Euros rather than dollars for trade, and the Saudi's are putting pressure on us to get our troops out of the kingdom. Though starting a war would be illegal, many of our boys will die, tens of thousands of innocent people will be killed and maimed, and the long term costs will be in the hundreds of billions of dollars, is it okay if I start a war anyway?"

Bush has yet to come clean with us.

Think on this... How can a president who spent his career as an oil executive go into a debate on foreign policy AND NOT SPEAK EXTENSIVELY ABOUT OIL??? He should be an expert, right?

If anyone thinks Bush is a stright shooter, they're fooling themselves.

The goal was to invade Iraq. According to Paul O'Neill and Richard Clarke, both of whom were part of Bush's administration, Bush was planning the attack on Iraq from day one.

If you look at Paul Wolfawitz and his cronies, THEY'VE been planning it since the mid-1990's. Why? Because they wanted to establish dominance in the Middle East and Iraq is strategically located. It also has one of the largest oil reserves in the world -- and Bush, Cheney, etc. are all oil men.

But they needed an excuse to invade. So Cheney puts pressure on the CIA to come up with something. Anything. They look at the intelligence, fudge a few numbers, make up a few plausable stories, and the next thing you know, Saddam is suddenly a threat to the U.S., stockpiling WMD's.

We invade -- and what's the ONE building we surround and protect from the very outset, while all the others are ignored (including the museums that were looted)?

    The ministry of oil.

    Figure it out.

That we didn't find any WMD's doesn't seem to matter to a whole lot of people.

Re: If "Bush Knew", why go and be embarrassed?

Based on my knowledge of Iragi weaponry of the past decade, they're weapons such as missles could barely reach eastern Europe much less the US. Is that to say that the proposed WMD's were not sufficiently advanced enough to cause destruction? Who knows. The American people live in the fluffy clouds of self inflicted ignorance. American's do not know what is going on in the government because most of them don't want to know. Those of us that do are denied the knowledge by those in the position to give it. That is how the government always has and always will function. They are a buffer of pertinent knowledge to the American people. But as to why Bush would invade with the knowledge that once there that no WMD's would turn up? The decision most likely wasn't his to make anyway. Bush is a puppet to his constituents, advisors, monetary supporters, and his special interest groups. Who is guiding the hand that Bush uses to push the war button? I don't know. I would gather that Bush is tied to the oil exploration and production business since they have more push and pull in the government than you'll ever know. Bush is a pawn, nothing more. Could he have prevented all this? Probably. Did he lack the intelligence to do so? Most likely. He is driven like cattle to feed. He is steered in the direction he goes by his special interest groups like every politician before and after him. The problem is that most Republicans are weathly, war-prone individuals whereas Democrats are liberal, new era socialists. So pick which one you want driving your country. We're in Iraq because the people with money think its a good idea. And we'll be there until we've raped the country for all its worth unless someone else puts a stop to it. Thats my rant for this week. Hope you enjoyed the show.

And Johny Kerry gave that permission as a Senator and elected representative of the United States:

"We must recognize that there is no indication that
Saddam Hussein has any intention of relenting. So we
have an obligation of enormous consequence, an
obligation to guarantee that Saddam Hussein cannot
ignore the United Nations. He cannot be permitted to
go unobserved and unimpeded toward his horrific
objective of amassing a stockpile of weapons of mass
destruction. This is not a matter about which there
should be any debate whatsoever in the Security
Council, or, certainly, in this Nation. If he remains
obdurate, I believe that the United Nations must take,
and should authorize immediately, whatever steps are
necessary to force him to relent Ś and that the United
States should support and participate in those steps."
