Convert .gig V3 to .gig V2

    Hi all,

is there a way to (down-)convert GigaStudio files (version 3) into the older format, compatible with v2.x?

Although I haven't tried it, in the GS3 Editor, "File", "Save As", "Save as Type" there is an option to save in GS3 or GS3 format.

Works perfectly. Save as Gig2. But you need to take care that there are no showstoppers. The downscale conversion does not automatically remove all non-downwards compatible items from the GS3 file. You have to do that by hand.
GS2 had only 32 dimensions vs 126 in GS3. You have to delete all dimensions above 32 to get a working GS2 format instrument. Also any dimension can have any number of states (like un-even number of dimension, say 7 velocity layers). GS2 needs dimensions to have 2, 4, 8 or 16 states. The smart midi rules dimensions cannot be used and must be re-assigned to a GS2-known controller.
If you follow these rules your GS2 file will load in GS2 without errors. If you get an error you have overlooked a parameter that is new in GS3 and was not implemented in GS2.
    Best regards,
