OT Joseph Burrell, something to consider in avatar

You have probably never faced lung cancer in a loved one ... but every time I see your picture it hurts. Could you change it?

Sure. I'm sorry to hear that. We've had all kinds of cancer in the family, lung included. It wasn't meant to offend of course. I'll change it later today.

Extremely considerate and thoughtful, Joseph Burrell!!

I will add, however, that although my father died of lung cancer, my mother died of an assortment of cancers, and I have had surgery twice for various cancers, I was not troubled by the picture. (I could easily lengthen this list but the point would be the same.) Perhaps I have accumulated sufficient years to accept that there are many reminders of things pleasant and unpleasant, and that's just the way it is. We must eventually learn to adapt, or accept the suffering from every reminder.
