    Update on the FREE Updates

The updates are finished and it is just a matter of putting it up on the Native Instrument website.

We also made few last minute changes that I believe will be worth the few extra days wait.

    Thank you for your patience,

    Gary Garritan

    Thanks Gary

Very strange policy of NI. Many people (those like me who has a day job at least) will only be able to give the update a good work-out on the weekend anyway.

Don't tell me that they are scared that they will have to work the weekend if they upload it on a Friday!

Actually, if my guess is right, NI gets serious style points as an employer. It's a pretty safe bet that a lot of their people are working musicians, and we all know that any computer task can suddenly become an all night adventure.

Their policy of not doing stuff on Fridays is probably to keep from screwing up the weekend gigs of their employees. The world needs more Musician Friendly companies like that!

Here's a quick overview of many of the new features in the Library itself:

    • "Full Strings" instruments
    • Aggressive short bow strings
    • Aggressive brass instruments
    • Advanced keyswitched instruments
    • "Length" control parameter
    • Solo winds vibrato control
    • Advanced portamento control
    • "Playable" single key tremolos and trills in solo strings
    • "Playable" single key rolls in percussion
    • Tonal variation control in pipe organ instruments
    • Extended vibraphone controls
    • Folder organization in "score" order
    • Ensemble instruments are now renamed "Players" (Plr1, Plr2, Plr3) for claritication
    • Optional "X-Custom" folder with an assignable slider for volume/timbre control (normally mod wheel but ideal for wind controllers) now available as a separate download
    GPO Studio:

    • Capture to Audio feature with GPO Studio (record audio from notation scores - already available)

Here are some of the enhancements to the GPO Kontakt Player:

    • Optional DFD (Direct From Disk) streaming of samples now available as a separate download
    • Larger screen fonts on instrument names for easier loading
    • - ± buttons have been added to the Load menu, to allow for easier browsing of the library.
    • Improved "Find" and "Auto-Find" quickly locates patches.
    • Loading times and general performance improved in all hosts.
    • Keyswitches appear as yellow keys on the onscreen keyboard.
    • The positions of both this pulldown and the horizontal slider are saved when the application is closed, and will reset to these positions in subsequent sessions.
    • The user-assignable modulation router has been completely reworked. It no longer modulates the value of CC24, but instead controls a separate "hidden" controller, CC25. In addition, CC11 (Expression) has been added, and the "Aftertouch" modulation option is now correctly named "Poly-Aftertouch". This is a particular benefit to Logic and Garage Band users as a workaround to the Logic reset to "0" bug.

Here are some fixes to the Player:

    • Fixed: Right-channel clicking on certain instruments now fixed.
    • Fixed: User-positioned knob values now recall correctly in hosts.
    • Fixed: Projects now load the correct per-slot MIDI channel, rather
    • than setting every slot to Omni.
    • Fixed: Polyphony setting now correctly limits the number of voices
    • being processed.
    • Fixed: Both Automatic Variability knobs now work properly

    There's probably more.

Garritom, That's one serious amount of powerful programming stuff to look forward to. No reason for less than total authenticity now!! You guys have been busy (and there's probably more)!

I guess the new player stuff also gives an insight into Kontakt tutu!

I cannot recall an update containing so many useful new and improved features. It amazes me that you can give all of this at no charge, I feel like I am stealing at this point. If this is a free upgrade, I hate to see what will be in GPO 2.0!

In fact, now that I think about it, maybe we should have a thread on that. Right, I'm on it!

    Gary, this is great stuff!
