    Brass samples for jazz/commercial music

    Hi All,

I am looking for a decent set of brass samples in Giga format for jazz/commercial music? Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    Consider:

    Quantum Leap Brass: http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/...html?sku=QLBGS

    Kick A** Brass: http://www.samples4.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=372

    Psychic Horns: http://www.quparts.com/cgi-bin/cp-ap...OME:brass_wood

Also FYI: yet to be released (but not giga):

Kick A** Brass: VSTi ( to be released on Nov 20.):
    http://www.samples4.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=590

    SaxLab: http://www.linplug.com/Products/SaxLab/saxlab.htm

    Yellow Tools Candy: http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/...tml?sku=YT-101
(according to East-West to be released on Dec 7-04, but it has been postponed at least 4 times over the last year, so this date is tentative)

Also, be sure to check out the wonderful Project SAM brass libraries.

    Some of the best, IMO.

I'll probably be the only one here, but I think Xsample brass (vol.2/3) is pretty useful as well. I'm using them on this jazzy demo:

Nice, Herman. Against whom were they mutinying?

The title just slipped my mind...there's no story behind it actually. But you can pretend they were rebelling against republicans :-)

Re: Brass samples for jazz/commercial music

I have noted that some companies and people refer to saxophones as brass as well....technically, maybe, but they are considered woodwind instruments in virtually every arranging/composition text as well as most scores for jazz/commercial/orchestral music.

Anyway, my original reason for this reply was to say thanks for the demo Herman. More companies should have demos of their libraries available. There are those of us who actually want to listen to a sample *before* we put down our hard earned money for their product. It would be nice if more companies had mp3's or wav. files available so we could hear what the potential of a sample library is. Then I would not have to rely solely on the beneficence of you fine people to lead me down the righteous path to sound nirvana...
