Topic: Christmas In Killarney

  1. #1

    Christmas In Killarney

This is a recreation of the Bing Crosby holiday tune from the early 50's. The PDF file is an arrangement for solo and male chorus.

    Ho, ho, ho, begorrah...

The MP3 file and the PDF file .

    Hi David,

I typically quit listening to Christmas music in February and then pick back up with it again in August. I drive my wife crazy listening to it in 90 degree weather in August. :-)

I loved the arrangement...my foot is still tapping!

David, it's not even Halloween and now I'm looking for the mistletoe!

Your recreation of "Christmas in Killarney" so darned fun and infectious.
Fantastic job you did. I almost did an Irish Christmas jig.

Thanks for posting this. This is going to be enjoyed by many people this holiday season!

    Christmas In Killarney

The holly green, the ivy green
The prettiest picture you've ever seen
    Is Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home

It's nice, you know, to kiss your beau
    While cuddling under the mistletoe
And Santa Claus you know, of course
Is one of the boys from home

    The door is always open
    The neighbors pay a call
And Father John before he's gone
Will bless the house and all

How grand it feels to click your heels
And join in the fun of the jigs and reels
    I'm handing you no blarney
    The likes you've never known
    Is Christmas in Killarney
With all of the folks at home

My father played this quite often when I was little. I can hear Bing singing the words. What a fantastic job you did!

David this is absolutely wonderful! I can't wait for the evening when my family decorates the house and the tree. A fire burning brightly and possibly a nice snowfall out side as we listen to the sounds of the season. This will be a nice happy piece to play during that time.
    Thanks for sharing.

Very nice. As one of those that is old enough to actually remember (first-hand) Bing doing this Christmas song, you did a great job David.

Now if only there was a "virtual" Bing to add the vocal........

    "Buh Buh Buh Boo…"

Oh no that's the wrong Bing song.

David, your arrangements are lovely. I sure would love to hear them with the vocals. Thanks for sharing your GPO explorations with us.

Okay....REALLY going out on a limb with this...buuuut...I need a good excuse to play with my M-Audio Firewire 410 and my M-Audio Nova condenser microphone, so I am going to TRY to pull Mr. Maddux's .mp3 into Sonar and actually sing this thing. It won't be Bing (or Bobby Vinton either!), but it should at least be listenable.

I LOVE his orchestration on this (especially when I compare it to the Bing and Vinton renditions that I just now bought off iTunes). Nice wide stereo separation and just gorgeous to listen to.

If it DOESN'T turn out well, then I won't post it, but if somehow it works..then you'll hear it.

If you DON'T want me to try this, then simply say so and I won't be offended!

    Wish me luck!
