This is a lengthy post, giving you the complete .gig files list for the Kirk Hunter Concert Strings. Notice the easy naming conventions along with the number of separate layers giving you the option of customizing your own string orchestra sound. A .gig files of the Solo Strings will be posted later. REMEMBER - Midnight PST Oct 31 is the last date for ordering at the pre-release price of $399. On November 1, because of the addition of the Distant Strings, the price moves up to $599.00US.

To get the pre-release price we MUST have your order no later than MIDNIGHT PST, October 31,2004. Library price does go up on November 1 to $599.00US. Comes with 15DVDs (compressed with Winrar), approximately 100GB - 120GB. Mic Positions can be loaded individually. All instruments recorded in their seated onstage position, no panning or EQ required.

It seems to me that almost no playing technique are left out. Unfortunatly I'm out of budget this year - so I won't be able to get this special deal.

Any chance to hope for a lite version? I'm not sure about the rest, but I don't need all the mic positions - I think the far micing is sufficient for most cases. Furthermore, I don't have the disc space to put 15 DVDs worth of samples.

True. But still 3 mic positions... A reduced version offering one mic position will be nice. Otherwise I'll pay for 3 mic positions and use only 1.

It seems that the articulations and instruments are all included in all three mic positions. Then it seems that one mic position includes about 35 gigs of samples. Garritan Orchestral Strings costs as much and it has about 10 gigs of samples. I've used GOS and loved it but if the KH Strings are any good (still waiting for new demos ) then they will be unbeatable in the bang-for-the-buck ratio. It is easy to think that the two additional mic positions are just an added bonus. Unlike the price / mic positions situation in SAM True Strike.

So, Tony, think about what you just said. You're getting three (3!) libraries for the price of one. The larger size is about completeness and consistency. MY gosh, no other library has a complete set of muted strings in three mic positions for full sections and chamber!

As designed by Kirk, three mic positions are essentially three different orchestras each with its own sound. Factor in the possibilities with GS3, and you have the opportunity to create your own custom orchestral sound in a way that cannot be done with any other library.

We won't be reducing this library by size. The price is the big reduction. Compare the size and pricing to what's available now and recent announcements about updates, and you'll see this is the best value going.

One final note. Because we've added in the Distant Strings and are keeping the basic solo strings, the price is going up on Monday to $599US. Which is still 5x LESS than other libraries.

With the exchange rates being what they are in Canada, don't lose out on the pre-release pricing.

These comparisons are ridiculous. First of all 599 USD * 5 is 2995 USD and I don't know of a strings only library costing that much. The VSL might be more expensive and smaller but you cannot claim that that would make KH strings better than VSL. The same goes with EWQLSO and SI strings.

If the whole KH library will be 995 USD as you have stated then the full VSL will be atleast 5 times more expensive. Still this comparison isn't fair as the full VSL library has the great performance set and full percussions which the KH library doesn't have. Is there a point in these comparisons? Which are better, apples or bananas?

Hmm. Now you aren't giving the mic positions for free but you are charging for them. You already announced that the regular price will be 499 USD. Keep consistent about the things you announce. Adding more data to the library doesn't mean that you can randomly change the pricing whenever you feel the need to do so. I don't know if the additional data will be of any value to me and therefore you aren't making the library look more tempting but you are making me feel that I can't trust what you say. The demo situation is ridiculous and so is the way you inform us about your product. Could you please take your time and do the things right once without hesitating and afterwards correcting your statements.

Will the woodwinds and brass total up to 396 USD for people who have paid the 599 price for the strings so that the full library will be 995 USD? How can we trust that what you say about this now will remain the same when the woodwinds and brass are actually available?

You should also point out that the introductory price of 399 USD won't be eligible for the 995 price for the whole library. I still think it's silly that the people trusting your words and buying the product without knowing anything real about it have to pay more than the people waiting for some demos and reviews.

1. The combination of string libraries for solo, ensemble and chamber costs just under $3000 unless you buy the lite edition. The price comparison is direct and based on published list prices. So there's the 5X.

2. You are incorrect about the mic positions. The price was originally advertised as $399 intro for Basic Solo Strings, Close and Far Positions. To the Intro Price we've added, at NO CHARGE, the Distant mic'ed strings. The $499 price was originally for the package just described which came to 60GB.

However, the revised package, at the regular retail price, comes with the Basic Solo Strings, Close, Far, and Distant for a size of 100GB. Including an additional mic position for only $100 is VERY fair.

What I find missing in your comments, Tony, is that this library is already value priced, and for the articulations you're getting and the completeness, including the muted strings for all mic positions, ensembles AND chamber strings (not available from any other library), the price is a steal.

I certainly appreciate that you'd like to have more demos up. But as I've explained multiple times, I have a smaller staff to work with, and the efforts are directed at getting the library duplicated and shipping.

FYI, as it's been reported to me, nearly 7,000 individuals bought Kirk's original Virtuoso Strings. Then there's the quality of his solo strings. Already, two television programs are using Kirk's Concert Strings for the Fall Season. We have a SOLID track record to go on, and it's a great one.

I appreciate and respect your need to wait for more demos. More will be posted in November. Thank you for your comments.

Aren't all the people getting the same package? Is there only one Concert Strings library or will the different prices include different amount of samples?

There seems to be only the 399 USD price available on your web site. How is it possible to pay 499 USD? Will the customer paying 499 USD get something proving that he will get the woodwinds for 499 USD and the brass for free after buying the woodwinds? How much will the complete Concert series be if the customer pays 599 for the strings? 995 USD? 1098 USD? 1597 USD? 1797 USD?
