Topic: What should Tom be doing next...

Thumbs up What should Tom be doing next...

First of all... I hope Gary will give him some time off... if he hasn't allready

And ofcourse he's working real hard on the Big Band module.

I know there have been several posts on this subject, but lately when writing music, I find myself on many occasion where I think... man, I wish Gary and Tom could have done this... it would have been soooooo much better.

    For example, voices... choirs etc.

Wouldn't it be great if we had a choir module with for example SoV's quality and Tom's magic on the playabilty?
Oooh-aah with the modwheel fading between ooh and aah, aftertouch controlling dynamics/timbre and keyswitching for different articulations..

Or how about a be-bop-de-do-wah sequence using automatic alternating like in the Shortbows...

And what would you think about a guitarmodule...

One that actually sounds like a guitarplayer and not like someone banging some keys with guitarsamples.... Gary and Tom should be able to create something like that... wouldn't they ?

And there are soooo many more things one could come up with....

Having used GPO for about a half year now, I'm so spoiled... almost every other samplelib is disappointing to work with and the new update didn't help either.... it's even better then it was.... talk about improving a perfect product !!

You guys (and gals) must feel the same way don't you... what sort of sounds did you use in the last months that you whish Gary and Tom would have made ?

I agree with you Ron. In fact the choir and Classical guitar are exactly the additions I would like. But there again some others may prefer saxaphones. Like the rest of us, Garritom can't do everything they'd like to do at once and have to make decisions. Over the last couple of years, since I've got into this, I have actually bought Yellow Tools Pure Guitars and also Vrsound's Nylon Guitar.....so I'm well sorted on this front (I shall be getting hold of Realguitar next!)

On the choir side of things it seemed, at one time, that Francis Belardino was going to put together something with Garritom and Francis does have an announcement of a new product on Nov 1st apparently.....so just maybe this will do the trick. I have also considered S****R as it seems to have a reasonable choir but, like you, I was hoping for a sprinkling of Tom's ingenuity in this area. To be perfectly honest, I had been expecting something like this in the upgrade, even if it had to be paid for.

Reading between the lines I think that Tom is already fully engaged in other Solo String work etc. What would be good to know is whether a choir will be forthcoming from Garritom, then we could plan ahead and make decisions. I equally understand why it wouldn't be businesslike for them to do this so we will just have to make our judgements!

Man, how I would love to have chorus and choir to work with! All those nice ideas Ron has would be so useful to us all. However, I thought Bela di Media was working on a choir / chorus lib?

I would like to see Leonard Bernstein meet Clapton and Cream (as actually did happen in the 1960s) GPO style. Then have Miles, Ravi Shankar, and Bill Monroe hanging around, too.

I was sort of hoping for a Polka band add-on.

I would like to have more percussion stuff to play with at some point. Even so, the fact that we have what we do is incredible.

My vote is for GPO Gold (or some similar name) which would basically be same concept as GPO, but with 10x as many samples....hopefully increasing the quality of sound and providing some sample based articulations (rather than derived quite so much from programming)....yet still provide the one-patch-covers-all-articulations working method that makes GPO so great to use.

In short...GPO on steroids, at a $999 price point...
