Is it another version of Cubase, or simply another price?
It is exactly the same software (I have the academic version of Nuendo); it just has an "academic" serial number. If you are able to qualify there are a lot of good deals to be had with software and hardware.
These companies MAY sell you the software even if you are outside of the U.S. -- you would have to check.
I would also suggest finding out whether an "academic license" restricts you in the future. For example, Microsoft sells Academic versions of their software, which are identical to the normal verisions. However, because these have special serial numbers you can't qualify for "next edition" upgrade pricing (e.g. buy academic Win 2000, but can't upgrade to Win XP).
RANT: What is wrong with the prices in Europe!!!!!!
I can find Cubase SX 3 in the US at 579$ but pricing is allmost DOUBLE in europe...
Another related subject... in the US online shops try beat each others pricing when it comes to samples. In Europe samples cost the same! Take VSL - no matter where in europe you look prices are identical. In the US they atleast try sell it as cheap as they can...
It makes me sick!
Now - does anyone know where I can find Cubase SX 3 at a price around the 579$, but in europe?
