    Question Anyone ever ....

Write a song about their children? Just a thought that pooped in my head while reading JB post on the kids dressed in costumes and the parents dressed in paper bags with two holes for the eyes and one for the nose three to get ready and toes toes toes!

    Someone call me an ambulance.

    OK, you're an ambulance!

I would feel kind of wierd if my parents wrote a song about me . . .

But my grandmother did write a nice picture book poem about her ten children, one of which is my mother.

Yes I did. Actually it's chronologically about all 4 kids (the last two are twins)and then I finish the song talking about my wife and I and how we met and how we're "Growin' Up" (which is the name of the song, since all my kids are also "Growin' Up"). I have only the first verse of it recorded as a demo to myself, but I've been dying to do the whole song.... I had to take the names of the boys out of the song because it sounds dorky that way, so the two lines were changed to:

"...a little boy was born in the fall of '91..."
    and
"...another boy was born in the summer of 94..."

and then the twins are simply referred to as "girls" for ease of reference.

I could be convinced to let y'all hear it...it is in the pop genre in case you care.

    Re: Anyone ever ....

Funny you should mention it...I'm not really far enough along to write anything yet, but the first two things I did when I got back into this music stuff in June was to do a version of "Still,Still,Still" and a Tomita-style "Girl with the Flaxen Hair" for my new granddaughter, Caroline. I had in mind to create a whole series of lullabies for her, but that's as far as I got.
    She doesn't sleep much, anyway.
The latest thing I did was to edit some home video of her and put it to "Syncopated Clock" for her 1st birthday, which was a hit.
Children are great and most precious, but grandchildren...whoa.

Tiny hands, tiny feet, little nose and little ears,
Soft and pink, hugable, to love and cherish through the years,
You are a miracle, God's loving design,
This little babe I hold, I can't believe you're really mine,
I'll love you 'til the end of time.

Watching you grow each day in a world that you'll explore,
Reaching out to find yourself, I will love you more and more.
You are a miracle, God's loving design,
This little babe I hold, I can't believe you're really mine,
I'll love you 'til the end of time.

I know that there'll come a day when I have to set you free,
But 'til then, little one, I'll keep you safe, right here with me.
You are a miracle, God's loving design,
This little babe I hold, I can't believe you're really mine,
I'll love you 'til the end of time.
