    Jerry,

This was very nicely done. And thanks for posting the score. It's really nice to follow when listening.

I really hate it when my weekends at the lake are interrupted by storms. You really captured that. Great!

    Jerry,
I'm getting back to doing some listening in this demo forum and I discovered this thread down the list a ways. So let me say that I really enjoyed your pieces. These are very nicely done and quite evocative. This thread deserves a bump...maybe you'll get a few more comments. Good work. Thanks alot.

    Thanks Bill,

I appreciate your comments and listening. As always, the more comments the merrier. That includes criticism as long it's constructive.

    Re: Contest piece

OK, I just figured something out - I was having this cow over how sloppy my full score looked and how there were little mistakes here and there, when in reality, the full score wasn't required for submission, just the midi /notation / sequencer files and audio file of the piece.

I have some time to tidy things up still. WHEW!!!!

    Re: Contest piece

I enjoyed this piece! I think you really achieved the "lake trip" quality. The first movement was very peaceful . . . I wish it had lasted longer, but I do realize the time constraints. I love the second movement, with a that nice upbeat melody. I could certainly feel the intensity of the storm in the third movement, and the fourth was a nice return to peace . . . thanks for sharing! Also, thanks for sharing the notation! Good luck in contest! I think I'll go listen to your entry a few more times . . .

What notation program did you use? (Just curious . . . as I am a curious guy )

Hi Sean, Thanks for listening and giving me feedback!!
I have very limited hardware power, so I have to be a little inventive.

I used Finale 2004 to create it. I exported it as a midi file, opened / edited / played back in Cubase SX. On those areas where my editing of the cc data doesn't yield the results I want, I record it live.
I played it from my iMac G4's audio out to my trusty Powermac G3's audio in, Then compiled tracks / edited in ProTools Free (the limited free version Digidesign was giving away on their site a few years back).
Capturing to disk while playing on the same computer always causes hickups. my iMac only has 768 mb of ram, and a 1 ghz processor. So I have to playback only a few instruments at a time and then compile the tracks together later.

Anywho. I guess the short answer (too late, you say!) would be Finale 2004.

    - Bump -

Some people have indicated a desire to hear submission pieces - here's mine.
Still cannot see how I got in the top 20, but I won't argue.
