I need to get FREE sounds of various forest animals...
any1 can point a place on the web where i can get them for free and can use in commercial CD-Rom Presentation ?
I don't know free sources. I know a cheap one: www.sounddogs.com
You can audition and license only what you need. Since animal sounds would tend to be short files, you would probably get by very cheaply, and you'd be totally legal (as long as the sounds were embedded in a full-media presentation that didn't just present them as re-usable tools...that would NOT be legal).
There's some free Emu Soundfonts out there somewhere...You'll need to look around to find them though...

Maybe can you find what you want ...
Man, that's pretty cheap. Pass it on to the client!!!!!! You're making money, he's making money, spread the love!Originally Posted by lukpcn
And in all seriousness, the reason I'd recommend that to you is that $5 per sample is pretty cheap insurance against problems. You KNOW you have licensed rights. The tricky thing about so-called "free" sounds found on the internet is that they're rarely traceable to a source. And unless you know their source, it is difficult to determine whether they were lifted from copyrighted material, or outright copied out of some other sample collection.
Then, if someone buys the product containing the samples, and it's determined that you've got a pirated sample in the bunch, it all comes back on you. Some producers from this forum had that exact experience early on, and it was a very difficult situation for them. They lost time, money, and product over it.
I don't mean to jump on the soapbox but this is one of the reasons why our industry is going to the dogs. Pleople are constantly underbidding each other, then they get gigs they can't afford to do!
