    Eddie V stole the whole tapping thing from Allan Holdsworth; who is harmonically far beyond anyone else mentioned in the best guitarist thread....

    Metallica USED to be a great band. Not anymore. When that St. Anger song came out, I honestly thought that song was a joke. I honestly thought it was just a joke. That's how bad it was...and that horrible snare drum.

    And Steve Hackett (Genesis) who had done it at least as far back as 1971. There is a very underrated guitar player.

    Overrated? Where do we start??

    How about Angus Freakin' Young.

    And Santana. Yes, Carlos Santana. He's OK, he has taste and I like him but a guitar God? No way. Same thing for Clapton. OK, flame on!!

    I also think Satriani is overrated, certainly in the company of guys like Tony McAlpine and Steve Vai.
