I posted this in the main sampling forum. I didn't even see this forum...duh.
I was using the sustain samples, for PMI's Old Lady and Emperor, the other day, in Kontakt, and found that if I leave it sustaining and continuously play the same note the CPU and DFD meter quickly peg and the whole thing just craps out and I mean within a few seconds. This is on a P2.4 w/1g of ram. Not the fastest, but no slouch, either.
Is it because a different velocity layer is triggered each time and the previously triggered sustain sample layer isn't being cut off, but layered upon each other, until there is a huge line of samples, for the same note, playing at once?
What can I do about this, besides taking an axe to the whole thing, or just avoiding sustain samples? Is it a problem with the Libs, or Kontakt? Maybe, a setting somewhere? (kidding about the axe, but it is kinda frustrating)
