    Mod wheels again

Well, I tried the search, but the search engine declared my terms would not be used in the search.

Stand alone mod wheel and external slider control has been discussed fairly recently, but I can't find the thread. I am looking for comments on the various usb midi controllers.

I also would like to know if the external slider and mod wheel can be used to record in an existing midi file.

Yes, Richard. Most programs allow you to filter the incoming midi data to exclude what you don't want to prevent problems while recording. Overture SE for example allows you to designate what you will be recording before you start. Cubase allows you to overdub your tracks allowing you to re-record over the top of existing note data without bothering what's already in the track.
