    SONAR/GPO: DirectX vs VST

    I'm trying to confirm this...

I'm experiencing the bug with the GPO Kontakt player where sometimes if you touch the GUI, the pitch-bend of the channel goes all the way down.

I'm using the DirectX version now in SONAR.

Would it be wise of me to use the VST-wrapped instance of GPO instead? In other words, is the VST instance immune to this bug?

    Which Sonar Version?
In Sonar 3, you must use the VST instance to avoid a note-sticking problem.
I've just ordered Sonar 4, so I'm interested to hear of any problems w/4.
I hope there's a way to turn P4 hyperthreading back on.

I'm using SONAR 4. Actually, I never experienced note-sticking in S3, so I can't tell you if it's fixed or not.

I'm also currently using HT, but again never had an issue with it: I must lead a sheltered sequencing lifestyle!

You will experience this note sticking issue (tempo change bug) if you insert tempo changes after recording your piece. Very nasty bug. I would recommend using the VST version.

Aha. Thanks. Should do that before this project gets too complex, then...

Guess I didn't run into that tempo bug as I'm most often playing parts by hand and letting the tempo breathe: almost impossible to make sequencer time changes sync up with bits when scoring video in SONAR otherwise, I've found!

I also have ordered Sonar 4, so I will be interested in watching your response to the upgrade. I am moving from 2.2.

Sonar 4 rocks. I find the track folders very usefull with GPO: I group the midi tracks and corresponding GPO output tracks in the same folder. The freeze feature is also very interesting.

Sonar 4 is tremendous, and works great with GPO. The DXi tempo bug is NI's problem, not Sonar's or GPO's. It's been in all Kontakt/Kompakt based programs for years now, and NI either can't or won't fix it. You've got to use VST if you have any tempo changes in your piece.
