    Musicians Directory

    sponsored links

    ***Advertisments***
Wondering if we can start a directory of musicans who:

    1) play well (whatever instrument)
    2) Have ability to record themselves with home set-up (to perhaps cut cost)

    3) Are willing to offer internet playing services
    4) Have demos of themselves playing (or are willing to make some)

If you want to contribute, let's keep the list only to name, instrument, contact info (no prices listed here, please)

    I'll start:

(I've listed him before but just for the record)

    Brian Fullen (drums/percussion) www.brianfullen.com
Steve Hanlon (myself) (classical and jazz guitar) rshanlon2 @ mac . com
Rebecca York (flute and piccolo) dhamma2 @ ms34. hinet .net

    Re: Musicians Directory

we also shouldn't only think in terms of recording via microphones. Some of these libraries (like many current piano libraries) have been sampled to the bone...expressive indeed.

So we could be talking about hiring someone to play midi parts (I'm emphasizing more piano than anything ) and either capture to wave or send the midi file and plug in the instrument of your taste.

I know there's some great pianists around this forum and instead of thinking about the limitations your home set-up might have, just think great samples and great playing all translating to a midi file or capturing to a wav

It's great to see the response! there's quite a group of folks interested and varied instrumentation too!

Updated Directory List: April 8th, 2005

    Recent addition(s):
    Noel Melanio chromaticuniverse @ yahoo.com

Chromatic Harmonica and Piano (strong emphasis in jazz improv and improvisation in general)

"My chromatic harmonica playing is more closely akin to the Toots Thielemans side of things. My dexterity is better than average; my practice warm up routine is to play Oliver Nelson's "Butch and Butch," Chick Corea's "Got a Match" and Charlie Parker's "Donna Lee" in all keys starting at 120 bpm and ending at 160 bpm. With enough planning, I can play most phrases that don't involve large intervals played in succession at faster
    tempos."

If sampled piano qualifies, then I am up for it. Trust me, you would not want a recording of my upright.

    Re: Musicians Directory

Actually most imortant is playing ability.

I used a guy on a tune. Jazz pianist. His playing is great. I kept it simple and told him to just use one of his VST pianos, since the pianos being sampled these days are amazing.

He played his part sent me the audio as well as a midi 0 file.

Worked great. I plugged in one of my sampled pianos and mixed it with his audio.

So the only thing you need to worry about is do you have good to great piano skills to offer.

If so, leave your name, email and styles you can play.
