Each time I insert the VST version of Kontakt in Sonar 3, two-thirds of the Kontakt graphic on the right side of the "rack" is totally missing from top to bottom. It also cannot be expanded...part of the graphic is just not there. The DXi Kontakt works and looks as it should. Very strange!
Has anyone heard of this happening before and do you know of a solution?
If this is the same problem I think it is the problem is then either VSampler or Tera (or both) are installed on your computer. These can cause the following issue:
You load a sample set into Kontakt and press the 'Edit' button and nothing happens. Actually, it has expanded, but Kontakt has not redrawn itself so you can't see it. If you make some mouse actions where the edit screen should be you might end up changing a setting. To verify, click the 'Edit' button just once, then close Kontakt in Sonar. Bring Kontakt back up and you should then see the edit screen expanded. If this is the case I would say it is definitely VSampler and/or Tera and uninstalling one or both would be the only solution except for one workaround. If you load a sample set, before pressing 'Edit' wire it up to a MIDI track, then go and trigger a sample or two from keyboard or from that MIDI track. You should then be able to open Kontakt and expand the edit area as necessary. This is just my experience with a bug that sounds similar to what you are experiencing. YMMV
