    First attempt with GPO

    Hello all,
GPO finally arrived and what fun I am having!
Although there is still a lot to learn, and I know this piece still needs a lot of work, I thought I would post it anyway

(Neo kindly gave me some webspace - thanks Neo!)

I have had GPO for only 2 days and so I haven't learnt the intracacies of expression, dynamics and articulation yet. This piece is from our musical "Spellbound" but does not yet have vocals recorded.

I know it's pretty dull as it is now but with time, I hope to learn more about GPO and improve the sound of all the Spellbound songs

    Regards,
    Kin

    Re: First attempt with GPO

Hehe, aye, I finally got GPO after several calls to UPS, Guitar Center and a couple to Garritan's Orchestral Libraries themselves. Dunno what the delay was, but I suspect it was UPS!

Anyway, thanks again Neo for your work on the other 2 songs
    Glad you liked this one.

I am always surprised by what people can accomplish with GPO in just a short time. Great work, thanks for sharing your music!

Hehe, I know you are all just being polite but thanks for your comments I am trying to learn more about using GPO with other software and the easiest way to achieve good dynamics and expression. Still not sure what the mod wheel can be used for - apart from volume! It's just me, I guess I need to read up more.

Anyway, thanks for your kind comments on my little first GPO ditty, even though it is a very amateur and "synthetic" production.

    Best regards,
    Kin

Sounds excellent I must say - even if it wasn't a first attempt. But you deserve extra credit because it is - so it's awesome.

If i remember correctly it is just for volume, but i think it does some cross fading between soft sample and loud samples - or maybe i'm just making that up!

Nice work though...really. What have you been using in the past for your productions?

    Re: First attempt with GPO

    Thanks Sam.
An orchestra plays the music during the show performances but during the composition process, songs were orchestrated in Finale and then played on the Roland VA-76 Arranger keyboard. Now that we have GPO we can create more realistic dynamics and a make judgements on parts before committing the work to an orchestra.
