    "Abe Plinkin' " (all pizz.)

    Fellow pizzicato lovers,

I just finished writing "Abe Plinkin' ". I used GPO pizz. violins, violas, cellos and basses.

I have to say that you may be the only person I know personally that composes faster than me! I wish I were at home so I could hear your piece. Your style intrigues me so, because just when you seem to be writing the most traditional, 19th century style, you sneak in a more modern harmony or tonal center shift that brings it right into the 20th century. Very good. As soon as I am at home with speakers i will give this piece a listen.

Is what still up? Oooooohhhh, you mean the tune?

Yes, I just tried it and it's working as it should.

When I was younger and playing around with MIDI, I saw 'pizzicato' as an instrument, and thus thought it was a totally separate instrument from the string instruments. Ah, how foolish I was . . .

Anyway, this certainly has the "Alexander" stamp on it: great counterpoint and catchy happy melodies. How are you composing so fast? Thanks for sharing!

I do a lot of it in my sleep so that when I get up every morning, there it is.

But serially, I have always written quickly...maybe too quickly.
