Here's a snippet made using the project I'm working on at the moment.
It's not a Steinway, Bosendorfer or even a Malmsjo!
No, it's a ordinary upright piano, a Yamaha.
Piano set up and recorded to give good performance for Jazz/Pop and gives a great alternative when you want something that's not as "big" as a Grand Piano.
It also gives you a different sound that can really, really be great to use from time to time.
Ok, first beta: Vertikal Jazz Perspective Beta 04
I like the sound, very intimate. Will it be available also from directdownload?
Hi and thanks!
There will be another perspective that's more close miked and even more intimate!
The Verikal has 48 samples/recorded note (16 samples pedal up, 16 pedal down and 16 releasesamples). All samples unlooped.
In 24 bit that's about 6.85 Gb per perspective!
Therefore the Vertikal will not be a downloadable product.
Love the demo 3. Great playing, and I forgot more than once that I was listening to samples.
Thanks for deciding to give so much attention to an upright. (Is this a studio size--the term "upright," could mean many things--or a full upright? Any pictures of the actual piano?)
And of course, the expected questions: release date? price?
Well, that depends of what you mean by "full upright". It's a full, 88 keys piano. A Yamaha actually. We wanted the sound of a "standard" piano this time and not the $$$ version. There's always room for different sounds and colors, and with this project, we did the ordinary, standard piano-at-home type.
I think that you will find this to work extremly well in recordings where you want a more intimate sound.
Releasedate depends on how well testing goes. Want to test and test and then test some more!
Also need to do some work on the impulses recorded for convoluting reverb as Gigapulse.
I've also recorded some special stuff that I want to experiment with. Hopefully those will add extra realism to the instrument.
Our three other pianos are priced $200. That should give you a pretty good idea on pricing...
