Hi guys, the short version:

how did you arrange your drives and partitions? What goes where? I mean, samples, audio files, midi files, loops, pictures, backup copies, word-files and so on.

I am about to rebuild my daw, which will be something like this:

Asus P4P800E-Deluxe
P4 2,6 Ghz.
2x512 Geil Value DDR Ram, hopefully running dual
Cubase SL
Halion with many sample libraries

I currently have one 40 GB ATA100 Seagate Barracuda, 2 MB Cache :-(

I am waiting for another drive that I RMA'ed, it's a 160 GB ATA100 Barracuda with 8 MB cache

I just bought a 160 GB SATA Seagate Spinpoint with 8 MB Cache.

Now, I was thinking to ditch the small 2 Mb cache Seagate as soon as I get the good, large one back.

So question is: shall I use the SATA for samples and the ATA for OS and audio files? I honestly don't have a clue. Also, I have something like 20 Gb of loops, many midi files, >10 Gb of pictures (I make some pixelart and webdesign from time to time) and I am actually considering creating a second log-on with access to the internet. Any suggestion would be most welcome.
