    An Orchestration Duel

I recently challenged FireGS to a musical duel in another thread, and we chatted about it, and came up with the following idea:

Anyone can participate. If Gary could come up with some short classical theme or piece, the object would be to orchestrate it with Garritan products within about two weeks. Then we somehow submit them anonymously, and the NSS users vote on the best. Yes, I guess you could vote for yourself, but my guess is there will be more people who don't participate that vote . . .

The winner would get eternal bragging rights . . . It's just for fun anyway . . .

I'd love to know what you think of such an idea

Why not just a plain old competition?

    A compose-off

    A composathon?

A duel in the art of composition.

The problem with that is that somebody could easily use something they've created before. If we do an orchestration duel in which Gary comes up with the theme, it would insure everybody starts at the same time, and has the same amount of material to work with.
