    Yet another Choir Post! :)

    Hey everyone -

I just saw this. The video is VERY impressive! (I think you have to have Quicktime to view), but I was amazed at the "ease of use" this seems to offer. The sound quality and controls of vibrato and dynamics were very easy and the result was VERY realistic.

    Anyway - check this out.

I probably will wait for the GPO Choir. Gary intimated that the word-building with the choir library they were cooking up yielded very promising results. And we know that Gary's will sound SPECTACULAR. Plus - EW/QL's is $995. ( ) I cannot afford that. I did get myself an el-cheapo choir library for $50.http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/...phtml?sku=PS13 to pacify my choir needs until Gary releases his in the (hopefully within a year) future. It is really no substitute at all - but hey.

    WOW! Holy steamed clams, Radioactiveman!

The emulated lyrics actaully seem usable .. no choir boys called Leon or Lola in this choir!

Man, I wish i could see this. For some reason, it isn't loading. I have quicktime installed on my computer, but I get nothing. Any ideas?

By the way Jerry, I have that exact same disc. Although, I have never really used it. Cool!

Do you know, I've tried to watch this movie several times, but I can't get any sound. I can see the picture just fine. The volume slider is up all the way, any suggestions?!

    Hey Jonny,

I suppose I COULD create an MPEG version and post it - but I think it is a copywritten movie file. Well, I just looked and there is no copyright notice in the file, but let me find out. The fact that it is posted on the website usually makes it copywritten. I am encoding it now for Mpeg. I'll post it soon.

What did you think of the older library you have on disc? it seems to have vowels and consonants too. (Though not like this does!)

Not sure how much Mr. Garritan would appretiate this EW thread in his forum. Garritan himself has experessed that he is working on a choir, and there's the stuff from Bella D coming out.

I'd be interested in that link, too, Jerry. Maybe it would fix my sound issue.

No Clue. Do you have any special settings for your soundcard that might not allow it?
Can't think of any - but you never know. I will post it soon though - so don't fret.
I just am totally blown away at how realistic this is - the words sound natural and very UNmechanical or contrived.
$995 gets you this choir. And the controls almost seem easy-like GPO.

Probably right about that one. I know that Gary has one in the works. But it is most likely another year away. But No matter what choir library there is out there - we both know Gary's will be superb - THE BEST! I don't feel this is going to really get people to not buy a Garritan Choir when released. Besides the outstanding quality and ease of use about the libraries he has, it's the GPO community and this forum that really make us loyal. At least that is the way it is for me. I don't care what else is out there - I will always use Garritan stuff primarily. ALWAYS.

Maybe I'll get more info about the appropriateness before posting something more..

    Thanks Link, I appreciate it

    Pretty durn cool!

Interesting that it seemed that the video demo was happening via a standalone MIDI performance-processor interface to trigger samples that were loaded into Kontakt (see the GUI when he's loading soprano voices), probably spread out multimbrally over several channels. I do this myself for prototyping (though I use Reason's NN-XT sampler). Looks like they'll smoosh it into Kompakt player for release, though!

Pretty impressive stuff. Solo voices are the tricky part, though: easier to cross-fade between phonemes in an ensemble context (especially with heavy reverb) because the "chorusing" (so to speak) doesn't matter. I'd be interested in hearing some dry solo demos, since the specs say "plus Solo Singers" too.

    The screen-shot is kind of cute: K - w - a -e -E - r !
