    Hard Drive

What is the best available Hard Drive for the Giga Sampler (July 1999)?

    Re: Hard Drive

I have 2 Seagates - good additions to any Giga system
Sony Vaio PCG-GRT170 laptop, 2.8 GHz, 512 MB RAM, Cubase SE (with Halion, D'Cota, Groove Agent, VGEE, Grand Piano), GPO, an old but sweet Akai 73 synth/MIDI controller, Tascam US 122 Audio/MIDI interface (ASIO drivers), Yamaha AW16G DAW, and bunches of mics, pre-amps, Truth B2031 monitors, etc. Partial dry mixdowns in Cubase, all WAV files exported to AW16G for final mixdown with EQ, inserts, sends, etc.

I see that the thread has finally come to life... all these years later as you've said... oh what the hell I need an excuse to gush over my favorite drive. :-)

It's a little overkill, but if you have a smaller selection of libraries that you want to be as fast as possible, the Seagate Cheetah X15 is the fastest hard drive I have encountered and has yet to be truly bested.

What sizes does it come in?
    What is the transfer rate?
I've heard about the Baracuda. What do you think?
