    Short Piece for Orchestra

    Howdy,

I just finished a short (2:00) orchestral piece. I can't remember when I started it, must've been a few months ago, but I decided to spend the night finishing it up. Perhaps I will write more music and this will be just one movement of a small symphony. It's in good old C major, and uses mostly just strings, though two horns and an oboe are used very shortly in the background near the beginning. Parts of it sound a bit western, I think. Perhaps I should call the piece "Don't Fall Off Your Horse"

    Two formats - a MP3 for the fast-modemed people:

and a smaller wma for the slow-modemed people (hopefully we will all be fast-modemed someday):

It's actually my university's spring break this week, so I'm at home back on good old dial-up. I'm not sure what took longer - writing the music or uploading it! Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

P.S. Almost forgot - Happy pi day (3/14)

Very fun piece Sean, and with some nice counterpoint imitations here and there. The only thing I would suggest is to try to create a movement in the harmonic progression, it's rather static now. However, we all started doing some static things before we could explore the "world" - even Mozart.

    Good job Sean!
    Sincerely,

    Sean,

Very good work. It's good to hear things from people you would not expect. This shows a light-hearted and playful side of you. I liked the voicings and counterpoint.

"Don't Fall Off Your Horse"?? - Good name. Maybe high-horse?

Enjoy spring break! Probably no better way to spend it than making music

Sean, This very nice. Did you play it all in yourself uning keyboard or by notational? I liked it and saved to my play list. This will be nice to listen to during lunch. Speaking of which, it's time for Pizza!
    Nice work!
    Have a nice spring break!
