High Quality General Midi VSTi Needed

OK, this may seem strange, but I need a high quality VSTi that will happily play GM files! Perhaps "high quality" and "GM" don't go together . . . but!

I don't won't to build my own GM sound set, I'm simply looking for recommendations as to which existing VSTi would due the job. (I actually have no clue which plugins even do GM).

My host, BTW, is Cubase SX 3.01 running under WinXP Pro.

    Thanks,

Sampletank2 and then do Sonic Synth's GM Modual For it by Sonic Reality, actually get Sampletank2 and you aren't going to need anything else. Still the GM Set is High Quality.

Wow! The expression, "are you insane"? comes to mind!!

I should have said "high quality of the low end plugins", say $100 or less!

Sample Tank or Colossus is way out of my budget, for the application!

(Sort of like getting OASYS for the Karma function!!!)

really isn't sampletank2 only like hmm 300 dollars and you could go way cheaper you could get sampletank which ....cheap.
www.sampletank.com check out sampletank free and the free sounds see what you think. I mean it's cheap. then you could upgrade to sampletank2 whenever. atleast that's what I would do.

Omnisynth is $89 and pretty good imo. About 600 MB.

    Uhm...

    Go here: http://www.sf2midi.com

Download the Fluid R3 GM Bank (free 63 MB)

Find yourself a VSTi Soundfont host like the one in Fruityloops or Orion.

It isn't a VSTi, but it sounds OK. It's a DXi. Not the best.....about the quality of a soundcard synth (OK, it's really bad! ) But it gets the job done. It is not GM. It is GM2 or GS format (has a switch to change between the two).

Oh yeah, and BTW: it's called VSC DXi. I think it's by Cakewalk. It came with my Cakewalk Music Creator 2002 which is about $40. That version of Cakewalk is a nice simple little program, BTW. Very user friendly and simple.
    OK, I'm rambling now!

    Reguards,
