well, then you are not looking for a vocal synth but rather a vocoder I believe.

HERE is a few to start with

You should look at the Roland V-Synth (www.v-synth.com) especially with the impending release of the VC-2 vocal card. It sounds amazing. Check it out.

    Thanks Sofine....

    I will check the links...

Is there is any site the offer MP3 samples for the vocoders or the vocal synth's?

    Thanks again

    waiting for more inputs.

The Korg MS2000B has an awesome vocoder built in and much cheaper than the v-synth...Cheaper option would be an older version - MS2000 that doesn't have the built in mic but instead an input for a mic...These 2 also have rack versions which would be a little cheaper yet MS2000BR and MS2000R respectively....Check Ebay for the older ones....I haven't heard a software plugin that does as good a job as this but I haven't exactly looked either....

you don't want a robot. well then you don't want a vocoder either i suppose.

Hmm.... nothing perfect has been done yet.
The only vocal synths I'm aware of is
    Vocaloid (Lola, Leon and Miriam)

    and Cantor

and Symphonic choir if you want a choir

Orange 2 is about to be released.
Cheap and cheerful and does the rick...

But if it's hardware you want, then budget dictates.

From a simple Boss SE70 to the big boys...VP330, SVC350, EMS 2000, Eventide Eclipse blah and blah again...

But to be able to sample and apply some clever manipulation, then don't diso~~~~ the Roland VP technology, as mentioned before. You can still find a 9000 cheap on ebay..might be worth having a look.
