This is a piano solo played from Finale with Human Playback.
The title comes from the two works (Verklärte Nacht by Schönberg and Prélude à l'apres-midi d'un faune by Debussy) from which I have taken the opening themes and used it as a source for tonal material. The themes are not used as a tone row, but more like as a scale/modus.
The piece is a gift to my old professor on his 60th birthday. These two works was often used by him as examples.
It was premiered in Bologna, Italy last year by Stefano Malferrari from Ensemble Octandre.
I have to compose an experimental piece for admission into a Master's Degree program and I was just thinking how hard it is to come up with new scales/modes/pitch sets these days that seem fresh. I do look forward to the challenge.
Mixing these two themes form these two drastically different composers is very clever, in my opinion. I am sure if this piece is as good as your "Trialogue" I will not be disappointed.
