Maestro Schermerhorn took my local Symphony from the brink of folding to one of the premiere orchestras in the country and I am just crushed. I saw him conduct the orchestra just two monthes ago. The Hall being built carries his name and he was to conduct the opening performance next year.

Schermerhorn was Bernstein's assistant conductor in NY and served many other posts before coming to Nashville in 1983.
