Uninstall Kontakt 1.5.3 when installing Kontakt 2?

    Kontakt Gurus,

Should I uninstall Kontakt 1.5.3 before installing Kontakt 2 or leave 1.5.3 on my system?

If I uninstall Kontakt 1.5.3 in the future, will the Kontakt samples also be removed by the uninstallation process?

    Thanks,

Installing Kontakt 2 does not affect 1.x at all, so there's no need to uninstall anything. I have both 1.5 and 2 on my machine and they appear as separate vstis in Cubase. Uninstalling 1.5 from your machine later will not affect any sample data.

    Have fun!

I heard that DFD works better in K2. Is it a new DFD file install for K2? That would make me wonder about compatability.
('got K2 in the box, but waiting a few months like I did with Giga3)

I used to tweak my DFD settings in Kontakt. So far I haven't figured out how to do that in Kontakt 2 but so far everything is working great.

    Hi,

So if K2 sits independently of K1.5. Once I install K2, I can still launch K1.5, just as if K2 did not exsist?

It took some labor to get K1.5 loading fast and DFD operating on my system. It would be nice to have K1.5 as a fully functional back-up if K2 has some initial problems.

    Thanks,
    Joanne

Yes definetly. K2 is cool, it not only has its own overall dfd settings, but even has specific dfd settings you can apply for each instrument if need be.

For example, you could apply different DFDs to a piano patch than a percussion one.

    Hi Scott.

Glad to know I can keep K1.5. I've heard so many good things about K2.

See from your website you are busier than ever and having fun.

    Joanne
