K1 to K2, or hold off a bit longer?

Appreciate any insights. I'm finishing up a film score and a bit apprehensive to make the switch from 1 to 2. Wondering if, all in all, it's advisable at this time.

Also curious about the vsl strings and the other included sounds. Right now working w/ Garriton and Mirloslav mostly.

    Much thanks for any opinions.

You can go to Kontakt 2 without uninstalling Kontakt 1 versions. You can use both at the same time. Since Kontakt 2 is named different, any plugins you use should still pull up the old K1 version. This allows you to stay compatible with your older projects.

Well I'm holding off for a bit, hoping for some good news from the multiprocessor support (which isn't happening yet as far as I can tell) so I have an excuse to upgrade again, and well, I'm broke too.

Is this a MAC issue? I have no problem on my Dual Xeon PC.

I thought users were still having problems with dual processor support. Maybe I'm off on that. I'd love to be since dual is where I'm going next.

The 2.0.1 update fixed most of the dual processor support issues.

    appreciate the info.

I'm on a mac dual 867 for until I'm able to upgrade. Needless to say when I get many tracks going w/ nuendo 3 (ie;film work) and using uad (although often freeze tracks to free up some uad power) and then add in kontakt things get pretty sluggish.

I've been mixing kontakt midi tracks right down to audio which helps, but pops and clicks persist.

Still though, I'm curious about the vienna string samples included w. k2.

Well, G4s are really not enough for the new generation of softwares...

But on my DualP G5, going to K2 has been absolutely seamless.

    Install-open-setup-and play.
Standalone or as a AU plug.
    No problem.
VASTLY better in every way than K1 was.

    enjoy.
