    Jazz and John Mehegan

I have not given much attention to jazz since listening to the performers at the old Blackhawk lounge in San Francisco in the fifties. Probably this is why the series on Jazz Improvisation by Mehegan on my book shelf are essentially unused.

Anyone studied these works, or knows something of them, please comment.

The Mehegan books have some interesting information on traditional jazz chord voicings for piano, particularly volume 4... They won't teach you how to play jazz.. The david baker "how to play bebop" series will give you a better hands on understanding... PG Music at pgmusic.com has a lot of very reasonable programs dedicated to teaching jazz, that are very effective...
