MFX- where do I find this?

I've downloaded a bunch of MFX plugins that Markleford provided for use with Sibelius and GPO. (I'm installing GPO for ths first time now.)

They all seem to require MFX, and from what I could find on the web, this is a plug-in environment akin to VST but it's associated with Cakewalk.

Some questions, and I'd be grateful for any tips.

    1) Do I need to install some Cakewalk product to provide MFX support?
    2) Do I need to operate in Cakewalk to use MFX?
    3) Is there some other source of an MFX "Wrapper" ?

If I want to use these MFX programs, it seems that I need to be "MFX capable" - somehow.

    Thanks!

The only hosts/sequencers that can use MFX plugins at the moment are Cakewalk products (Sonar, Project5, Home Studio, etc) and Cubase versions released after SX (via a wrapper).

Unfortunately there's no current way for Sibelius (or Finale) to host MFX plugins. Hopefully I'll make a non-MFX solution in the future. For the record, which plugins were you interested in using? I'm going to make an effort to port the most popular ones first.

    Thanks for the reply!
My real interest at the moment is in the standard midi file translator, since we have a number of those around that we'd like to play in GPO.

Well, then you could use the one that comes with GPO as a standalone executable! Should be on the install CDs, yes?

I'll have to look for it. My son did the actual installation and he may have missed it.
    Thanks for the heads-up!
