Preliminary Screenshots of LinuxSampler on Mac OS X

Thanks to the great efforts by Stephane Letz he got a preliminary version
of the free, open source Linuxsampler + QSampler (the GUI) running on OS X too.
Stephane said performance of LS on OS X is not ideal yet, mostly due to missing altivec support and probably due to the current LS envelope/filtercurves prerendering method, which will be exchanged for an efficient event handling system which should give boost of LS performance on x86 too.

This is not to say that LS performance on OS X totally sucks right now: Stephane said he can play a chopin piano piece with the PMI Boesendorfer with a polyphony of 80-90 stereo voices on a G5. I know it's not much but the fact is that for now we did not pay attention to performance tuning on OS X.

    here are a few screenshots:

Stephane wrote: As you see in LS2 picture, they are some displaying glitches (button are too small on the right... ) but its usable.

A few notes: the GUI is simple and not eyecandy yet, for now it was not the priority but that could change it future, feel free to contribute

When will the OS X binary be released ? It's hard to predict, I guess when the performance on OS X is improved and when LS will be able to run as an AU plugin.

As usual we will keep you posted when there will be news on the matter.

    cheers,
    Benno

    Benno,

This is fantastic news. Kudos to Stephane! Now we can have LinuxSampler on our Mac MINIs. I believe there is a good future with what you are doing. Open source sampling will be natural in the evolution of LinuxSampler. I plan to support your efforts and all the best with the project.

PS: It was a pleasure meeting with you again in Frankfurt.

Looking good. Is that a built in midi sequencer I see?
