"The Lion's Share" (student demo for wildlife documentary)

    Good day, GPOers.

This is the result of my most recent student assignment. It is music for a demo documentary called "The Lion's Share". The first part introduces two "tribes" of lions, and leads into the opening title.

The second part is called "Chase and Kill", you can guess what that one is about (if only the poor wilderbeest knew). It is actually two cues in one file. (If anyone wants to see the video along with the music, let me know.)

It's a bit "Born Free" in places, I know, but that's the spirit of the work.

Instrumentation was GPO (of course!), along with some GM soundfont banks.

Let me know what you think, and thanks for listening!

Nice job on this, Steve... writing for a visual medium like a wildlife documentary is an art unto its own. Like the way you used the percussion -- to flavor this to its subject and control pace. If you can post the video, I'm sure many would like to see how the whole shooting match goes together!

Thank you, guys, for your comments.

I'm in the process of registering a domain and getting some decent webspace... when I do, I'll post the video, along with some of my other assignments.

Josh: Life in Bermuda is not bad, I have to say... but you know, the grass is always greener... it's only 21 sq miles, so you can imagine, it's easy to run out of things to do.

It's wild enough, it's african enough, it's soundtrackish enough...IT WORKS!!

Congratulations, your Lions will be proud of the movie!

    Steve,

You're a Lion King of music! This was an adventure to listen to. Very vivid and exotic. I liked your use of percussion mixed in with all the other musical safari elements.

If you would like I would be happy to host the video.

    Bravo! Jumanji!
