    Place to purchase film scores?

Is there a place where I can buy orchestral film scores on the net? I've looked on the net, but all I can find is arrangements for piano. Any help is appreciated.

Good question... I've found them hard to come by, too.

All sorts of sheet music, excerpts, etc., seem to be available readily enough -- but none of the full scores.

They're rarely published, so you're unlikely to get a copy unless you schmooze with the composer / arrangers / copyists / etc.

Your best bet is to find orchestral arrangements of film scores, written for high school / college orchestras. They won't be 100% accurate, but they might be close. Chances are, you'll get a medley or one big cue, so you probably won't get any of the more obscure underscoring. jwpepper.com (or something like that) is a big supplier of orchestra scores to schools, you will probably find a lot of arrangements of popular scores there.

Again, it won't be perfectly accurate--ultimately it will come down to using your ear.

    good luck,
    chris.

Try www.sheetmusicplus.com. I got all my scores from there. The selection is of course very limited and it's mostly arrangements, though...

    Greetings,

Some of John Williams' Signature Edition scores can be found at J.W. Pepper. You can get the conductor's score, and optionally, the orchestral parts.

    Cheers!

Thanks for all the links! I'll be purchasing one of the scores soon, I'll probably get the James Horner score. I don't really like John Williams, but he is sort of unavoidable in the film score biz at the moment. Actually, for film music, which I love, here are my favorite composers at the moment:

    1. Danny Elfman (he will always be number one!)
    2. Alan Menkin
    3. James Newton Howard
    110,224,365. John Williams
