I think Lauren Bacall said it best: "Just put your lips together and blow".

Thumbs up Re: Looking for whistle (human, not tin whistle) samples

Hi Sub. Try this link. There are some free VSTI. One is a theremin, other electric piano, and other is called The Sepherd, that is a vsti of whistles.
    I hope this help.
    Cheers

John Bowen (of Prophet fame) programmed a pretty good one for the Korg Wavestation (JB Whistle). Well, I like it a lot anyway :-)

Or give the gig to Roger Whittaker :-)

    Kind regards.

Thank you all for your suggestions and recommendations... Unfortunately, I can't whistle, and neither can most of my friends...
I quite like The Shepherd vsti, it can sound realistic at times. I'll try that, with use of the pitch wheel to imperfect it, it might work very well.

Re: Looking for whistle (human, not tin whistle) samples

FWIW, there was a patch on my old Juno 60 for whistles. It was just a pink noise generator going through a resonant filter with a high-Q. Change the frequency of the filter to change pitch. Change the amplitude of the noise to change volume. It was more of a mellow "Andy Griffith" whistle than a shrill one. (No overtones to speak of.)
