Hello all, I've been recommended to write some music for a university's website - i havent got the gig yet but would like to be prepared if i am offered it. Does anyone know how much i should charge (I believe the budget is £10k but this doesnt include the actual web design as this is coded by onsite programmers).
I don't quite follow what you mean by "the budget is £10k but this doesnt include the actual web design." What does the budget include then? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm just trying to figure what they'll have left for music (music is always last on the budget list.)
I'd guesstimate what you think they can spend, go a little higher, and say, "I usually get X for this kind of stuff. How much were you thinking?" They generally already have a number in mind and this tactic gets them to tell you what it is.
Most gigs, and especially something like college web design gigs, don't have standard rates. So you basically just see what you can get, and that's your rate!
